Our Impact in 2023

Sierra Leone Nurses Association Minnesota (SLNA) strives to promote health and wellness in our communities.

2023 brought us an amazing opportunity to deliver on our mission through key initiatives.

We are proud to humbly share highlights of our work from the past year.

Senior Outreach Program

Our vibrant Senior Outreach Program that provides a safe space for seniors in our community to learn and take care of their health empowered more than 50 participants by providing them the opportunity to discuss health topics and get access to community services.

Vaccination Drives

In October 2023 we collaborated with Cub Foods to provide free influenza and Covid vaccines to over 40 seniors, adults and children in our community. These annual vaccine programs are very valuable to members of our community and our participation helps to build trust.

Winter Packages

With the help of the Sierra Leone Community in Minnesota (SLCM) we have over the past two years distribued winter packages of gloves, coats, socks, food, hats, and other needed items to over 100 seniors in our community

Health & Wellness Fair

In May 2023 we collaborated with over 20 local and state vendors to provide healthcare resources and create awareness in our community. Over 150 people attended the fair and many viewed the program stream on social media.

Health Care Support

SLNA Minnesota has in the past supported the construction of a clinic in Kono which project is ongoing and we are currently suppoting the construction of a clinic in Nyandeyama, Kenema district in Sierra Leone. Our goal is to provide support to rehabilitate health centers across the country.

SLCM Programs

The Sierra Leone Community in Minnesota (SLCM) is a crucial organization committed to the welfare of Sierra Leoneans and other immigrants in Minnesota. SLNA collaborates with SLCM to improve the health and wellbeing of members
